Welcome to Friday’s Fab Links – my regular personal finance blog roundup post. Happy Valentine’s Day to you all!

I have a little challenge for you. Why not spend this Valentine’s Day making as many people as you can feel special? Valentine’s Day could be for anyone that you care about, not just your other half. 🙂

It doesn’t take much to make someone feel special. A smile, a few kind words, just asking someone how they’re doing could make them feel appreciated. Why not help someone today if you can? The thing is that you don’t need to spend a fortune on gifts for Valentine’s Day to make those that you love feel special. Spending a little quality time with someone is way more important than spending money on them.

I’ve spent today working but I’ve made an effort to smile at everyone I came into contact with. A smile goes a long way. I’m going to call my mum, dad, brother and sister and ask them how they’re doing and if they need anything that I can help with. I’ve also left some cheesy post it notes in the hubby’s lunch box and throughout the house for him to find to make his day fun and a little bit different!

It doesn’t take much, just a little effort. What will you do today to show you care?

Michelle from Fit is the New Poor wrote a post about The Olympics Pack Strategy. Inspired by the Winter Olympics, Michelle has some great lessons for winning your own debt repayment race.

Girl Meets Debt ran a great guest post by Blake from Bean Counter by Day called How an Expensive Wedding Gave Me Hope for the Future! Blake describes how even though he and his fiance have different views about money, he has managed to work out a way of compromising financially with her. This has led to significant debt payoff and emergency fund savings!

Graham at Moneystepper posted an article about the Hidden Costs of Letting a Property. Renting out a property can be lucrative, however, there are many costs that need to be considered before you decide to go ahead.

Shannon from Financially Blonde posted Are You Financially Sexy? She describes the qualities a person could have which could be considered sexy such as a healthy emergency fund and a debt to income ratio of 35% or less. I’m not sexy yet, but I will be one day!

Lyle at The Joy of Simple reminds us that Valentine’s Day isn’t just for couples. It’s for single people, friends and family too! Lyle explains why we should make Valentine’s Day an all year round consideration and how it doesn’t need to be an expensive day for anyone in his post – Valentine’s Day is also for SAD People Like Me.
