I’ve got a couple of annoucements to make today about some changes that will be happening here on Disease Called Debt! The first is that from this coming Saturday, I’ll be permanently co-hosting Financially Savvy Saturdays with Mel from Broke Girl Rich.
Financially Savvy Saturdays is a blog hop especially for Personal Finance Bloggers (also known as a linky party). It’s a place where personal finance bloggers can come and link up their recent posts. You may have seen me cohosting a few times before in the past! In addition to me being a permanent co-host, there will also be a third rotating cohost each week.
Blog hops like Financially Savvy Saturdays are a really great idea because they are a great way to get more exposure and traffic for your blog. It’s really quick and easy to link up. In addition, by linking up, you can find new blogs and network with other personal finance bloggers by getting involved in commenting and sharing on social media. Some people worry about whether linky parties can have a detrimental affect on SEO and the short answer to this is no – read why here.
What does me cohosting Financially Savvy Saturdays mean for you?
If you’re a personal finance blogger, you can stop by Disease Called Debt or Broke Girl Rich every Saturday and link up your latest post to join the blog hop. Make this your regular place to hang out on Saturdays!
If you’re a Disease Called Debt reader, you’ll be able to find tons of great personal finance articles all in the same place every Saturday.
Don’t forget to stop by this Saturday 18th April to check this out!
Elite Blog Academy
The second annoucement I thought I’d mention is that I’ve decided to sign up for the Elite Blog Academy. This is a blogging course that many bloggers swear by! It’s the most expensive purchase I’ve made in a long time so this was a tricky decision for me to make! But I love blogging and it’s starting to become a valuable source of income for me so I want to do more to try to improve the site.
Everything I’ve done with this blog so far has been a result of me trying and testing out a lot of different elements to see if they make a difference to the growth of this blog. Last year, Disease Called Debt relaunched with a new design and I think that was definitely the right decision! Some things I’ve tried have worked but some haven’t! There is SO much information out there about the best way to write content, on SEO, to get subscribers, to grow followers on social media etc. And the trouble is, much of it is conflicting and confusing – for me anyway.
I’ve decided to invest some money into developing my skills and this blog through this blogging course and hopefully it will pay off. So you might see some changes around here as I try out some different strategies to deliver what this blog needs to take it to the next level. I’ll keep you posted.
Have you taken a blogging course or invested money in something you want to learn?
By subscribing, you'll receive new blog updates by email and occasionally I might email you with any exciting news. I promise not to spam you and your details will never be passed on.

I am also participating in the Elite Blog Academy. I’m going to try to hit the assignments hard starting this weekend. Glad to have someone else I “know” along for the ride. I keep meaning to do more with linkups and blog parties (probably even covered in the course), so I’m glad for the reminder (and to know you are helping to head it up).

Hi Kirsten that’s great that we’ll be on the course together! I started the first assignment last night but I’m now thinking about working to the schedule in the course syllubus as I think I’ll find it useful to work through some of this with fellow classmates so to speak! Maybe we can help each other out and spur each other along as we go through the course. 🙂 Hope to see you here on Saturday for the link up!
I’ll be interested in hearing about Elite Blog Academy! Good luck with all your new ventures 🙂

Thank you Melanie! 🙂
Hi Hayley, funnily enough I’ve also been looking at the EBA course and I’m tempted to sign up. I’ve been following Ruth Soukup for a while and am really impressed with her.
Although the course isn’t that cheap I’m confident from the reviews that great results are possible!
I’ll probably make a decision in the next day or so.

Hi Ricky, have you signed up? Hope so! Be good to know another blogger on the course!
Hi Hayley,
Yep, I decided to take the plunge and sign up to EBA. I’ve been away for a couple of days so it’s really only today that I’ve had a good look at the course and modules.
First impressions are really positive and I can’t wait to get stuck in.
I’m definitely sure we can benefit from both being on the course.

I’ve heard a lot about EBA, and hope to participate next spring. In the meantime, I’m reading Ruth’s book about blogging for profit, and it’s full of good information. Good luck with the course!

Congratulations Hayley! I haven’t had any blogging course yet but I am planning to so that I can learn more of the blogging industry and I know for a fact that this will improve not only my skills but also my passive income.
