Spending time is one of the most rewarding and enjoyable ways to spend your time – however it can also be one of the most expensive. Whether your hobbies include hiking, swimming, hunting, or camping, there’s no denying that the cost of all of your necessary gear from companies like Outdoor Solutions can add up quickly. The good news for nature lovers is that there are numerous ways to save money on the cost of outdoor gear! Keep reading for 3 simple but effective ways to save on the cost of outdoor equipment.

    Rent Your Gear

If you are someone who only indulges in 1 or 2 outdoor outings per year, it might not be worth it for you to spend money on the cost of purchasing gear. Renting equipment such as hiking boots, tents, backpacking gear, and more can cost a fraction of the price of purchasing these items, and can also help you save space in your home that might otherwise be filled up by items you only use a few times per year.

    Buy Second Hand

Buying used gear is one of the best ways to save money on items that you need to purchase. You can often score huge deals on unexpected items including outdoor equipment at your local thrift stores, as well as outdoor apparel and equipment retailers such as R.E.I. Additionally, many like-minded outdoor enthusiasts in various communities host gear swaps, in which you can trade gear with other people or obtain new equipment for little to no cost. Using second hand gear is one of the best ways to save money when it comes to equipment for hobbies like hiking, camping, hunting, and more.

    Buy Older Models

If you insist on purchasing new equipment for yourself, one of the simplest ways to save on the cost of doing so is by opting to buy older models of equipment in comparison to the newest items on the market. A pair of hiking shoes or a tent that was released last season is likely to cost less than this year’s new model, but will work just as well. This is one of the most effective ways to obtain outdoor equipment for a low cost while still ensuring that you are able to buy your gear brand new.
