Are you looking for solutions to save money on your heating bill? You’re not the only one who is in the market to keep your heating bill under control this year. According to HomeAdvisor, the typical heating cost for Americans is $1,500 per year.

For those who heat their homes with gas rather than electricity, their bills are expected to increase. While you may not be able to influence oil costs, you can change the way your house maintains warmth.

We’ve discovered the top three ways you can easily lower your heating bill this winter. Everything from larger investments to small adjustments for reducing the dreaded winter energy costs can be found below.

    1. Lower Your Thermostat

Most Americans have become accustomed to warmer houses over time. Many people enjoy their homes at a cozy upper-70s temperature during the colder months. During the day, it’s suggested to keep the temperature at 68 degrees while keeping it around 60 degrees at night.

You can always put on an extra sweater or grab another blanket if it feels too cold. Another approach to save money is to turn off the heat while no one is home during the workday. If you have a smart thermostat, this is vital!

    2. Add a Humidifier

If you don’t have a chimney for chimneyrepairdetroitmi.com to service, try adding a humidifier to the most commonly used rooms. A humidifier can help you stay warm without significantly increasing your heating budget.

When the heat is on, using a humidifier is recommended since wet air feels warmer than dry air. Humidifiers will also help you save money on your heating bill by reducing static electricity.

    3. Service Your Furnace

It’s sometimes necessary to spend to save. At the very least, this is true when it comes to decreasing your heating expenses. It’s in your best interest to have your furnace inspected by a professional once a year. This can cost anything from $80 to $200, but can save you money in the long run.

Likewise, your air filter should be replaced at the start of each season and at least once more during the wintertime. You can buy an air filter for $15, but if you have the budget, spend $20 to $30 on a premium one.

    Bonus Tip: Make Small Adjustments

Make sure your window and door stripping are in great condition. It’s essential to seal any gaps or cracks you find. A winterization kit is a great cost-effective option as well. For the winter, this just entails shrink-wrapping your windows with plastic. It may not be the most attractive way to conserve heat, but it does the job well!
