If you need to turn your assets into cash quickly to get you out of a tight spot with money, one option that you could consider is to sell your fine jewellery or watches that you no longer need or want.
Many people form an attachment to their jewellery because jewellery is of course a very personal thing. But there are some examples where parting with jewellery for cash might not cause too much concern at all.
For example, if you’ve just come out of a broken relationship or marriage, selling your engagement ring or wedding ring might be something that you can’t wait to do. Or, sometimes, the novelty of owning a luxury watch might wear off after a year or so.
The thing is, if you need to generate some cash quickly to help you pay off debt or fund an emergency, then selling items like these will likely bring in much more money in a short space of time than trying to sell your old clothes, shoes and gadgets on eBay.
When my husband and I were really struggling with debt, one of the very first things that we did was sell his Tag Heuer watch. It had originally been bought for almost £1000 and we managed to get just under £200 for it by selling it on eBay.
At that time, we didn’t know of any other alternative options for selling this kind of item, other then going to a pawn shop. We did try that actually and they offered us much less for it.
We may well have made a bit more cash from that watch if we had been able to sell it in the right place back then. Because the trick to generating a decent amount of cash from fine jewellery, diamonds or watches is by making sure that you’re selling to a trustworthy establishment that really knows the value of what you’re offering.
Should you sell your diamonds and jewellery to a local jewellery store?
It’s clear that pawn shops are a no go if you really want to get a fair price for your jewellery. But what about selling to your local jeweller? Well, the issue with doing this is that your local jewellery store may specialise in certain types of jewellery (certain diamond cuts for example). If your item isn’t what they’re used to selling, they may not be interested in purchasing from you.
In addition, jewellers may want to take a commission from your jewellery if they do sell it. You could also be waiting months or even years to get a sale in the first place because through a jewellery store, you’ll have to wait for the right buyer to come along. One who wants exactly what you’re trying to sell. When you need money in a hurry, this is far from ideal!
It’s the same with eBay and Craigslist when you think about it. You’d be waiting for the right person to come along and buy your item, but of course with these two platforms, there’s further issues in that you’ll be less likely to get a fair price unless your item is bought by an expert.
So where should you sell your jewellery to make good money quickly?
I recently came across a great platform where you can sell your jewellery, diamonds and watches online – one where I believe you can get more money for selling such items, compared to eBay, Craigslist and other online marketplaces.
WP Diamonds is one of the world’s largest online diamond buyers. The company has offices both in Birmingham and London in the UK and in New York in the US. They operate in these countries as well as Canada and Spain too.
WP Diamonds offer a unique service that can greatly benefit anyone looking to sell their jewellery online. They are diamond specialists with an expert team of GIA trained gemologists that have over 150 years of combined experience in the diamond industry. These experts are able to examine and value diamonds according to their true value.
With that said, they are able to offer top prices when it comes to purchasing your diamonds from you. Typically, customers can expect to receive anywhere between 25% and 50% of the retail price, depending on what it is you’re selling and its present condition. So if you’re wondering about the best way to sell an engagement ring for a fair price, it’s well worth starting with WP Diamonds as a first port of call.
It’s not just diamonds that you can sell through this company. They can also value and buy your fine, antique and estate jewellery too as well as branded jewellery from Tiffanys, Cartier or David Yurman. WP Diamonds can also purchase your designer luxury watch. Brands they buy include Brietling, Cartier, IWC, Omega, Rolex, Jaeger LeCoultre and Patak Philippe.
Selling your jewellery with WP Diamonds is simple!
The video above is a basic overview of how the process works in the UK (it’s the same for other countries) and I’ve explained it in more detail below. There are just 5 steps to go through to get some quick cash for your jewellery, diamonds or watches.
Step 1 – Complete an online evaluation form
The first thing to do is get an idea of how much your jewellery is worth. To get an initial valuation (with no obligation) for your diamonds or jewellery, simply fill out the WP Diamonds user-friendly valuation form.
Click on the “Get your offer” tab on their website to get started. Make sure you’re on the appropriate site for your country of residence (you can navigate between UK, USA and Spain on the menu at the top left).
Step 2 – Receive your valuation by phone or email
The WP Diamonds team work quickly to get your initial valuation to you shortly after you complete the online valuation form. They base their valuation on the information you provide in the form and they may ask a couple more questions at this stage to ensure their quote is accurate.
Step 3 – You ship your jewellery or diamonds to WP Diamonds (fully insured & free to you)
If you decide to proceed, WP Diamonds provide fully insured free shipping, so you can send your jewellery items to their valuation centre to obtain a full expert valuation. (It makes sense that your jewellery will need to by physically examined in detail to obtain its true value).
The only thing you need to do here is take your items to your local post office and arrange for them to be shipped. WP Diamonds issue full instructions on how to package and post your items.
Step 4 – You’ll then receive a full valuation and offer
After inspection, the WP Diamonds team will then contact you to provide you with a full valuation and their best possible price for your jewellery.
Step 5 – Get the cash in your bank within 24 hours!
If you don’t want to proceed, then of course, you’ll get your jewellery shipped back to you quick sharpish. But if you’re happy with the offer that WP Diamonds gives you, then you can accept their offer and wait for your money to arrive.
You can choose to receive payment by cheque or bank transfer. If you choose bank transfer, the money will arrive in your bank account within 24 hours. Nice!
Can you trust WP Diamonds?
Absolutely. I’ve done some digging and found that WP Diamonds are a trusted and reputable company with an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. They have many positive reviews on their Google+ page. Here are just a few recent ones that I’ve taken screenshots of…
From the reviews I’ve seen, it’s clear that WP Diamonds pride themselves on excellent customer service, so you’re likely to have a positive experience if you decide to use them. When all is said and done, if you’re wanting to sell your some jewellery, diamonds or watches, WP Diamonds is a good and more importantly, SAFE platform to use.

Now I know where to go if I sell jewelry. I used to go to pawnshop or sell my jewelry to a local jewelry store. WP Diamonds seems a good platform to do so. And, I think it would be sold a little bit faster compared with doing it on Ebay or Craiglist as people coming to WP Diamonds have one goal to buy jewelry. Thanks for sharing this!
Hopefully, it’ll never come to that, but it’s good to know a resource. I almost never wear the jewelry I got for the wedding. (Yes, diamonds. I was cycling manic, though I got a good deal.) They’re not the highest quality, though, so I’m not sure whether they’re something I could even sell online.
I’ll put it on the list!
Another time when you might want to sell jewelry is if you inherit it. Certainly some pieces may have sentimental value or be family heirlooms, but other pieces are best to sell. A few years ago, when gold prices first started peaking, I sold some jewelry to a local shop. But it’s good to have another resource if I ever need it.![My Profile](https://diseasecalleddebt.com/wp-content/plugins/commentluv/images/littleheartplus.png)

What a great resource! I sold some gold both online and in person several years ago when saving up for our wedding. The stuff I had wasn’t of huge value (financially or sentimentally) so it was a relatively painless process!![My Profile](https://diseasecalleddebt.com/wp-content/plugins/commentluv/images/littleheartplus.png)

Super interesting! Here, several jewelry stores do cash for gold where there is no commission sale, but they also don’t offer you the whole full price, either.
Really? Now I have another choice of where to sell my jewelry other than pawn shop or a local store. WP Diamonds seems a good platform.
Cool post! I know another instance of winding up with good jewelry none of us wanted was when my grandmother passed away. She did have several items that everyone wanted, but there were also a few that weren’t really anyone’s style and we each already had something to remember her by, so we wound up selling several items.
