Sorry about the rental property. I hate my when emergency funds get depleted as well. But it does remind me that I can ask my landlord to help with my totally aging apartment. I have paint peeling everywhere, but I somehow don’t think he’ll fix it, and since he has never raised my rent in nearly seven years, I hate to rock the boat. Congrats on the freelancing and the gigs!

Thanks Tonya! That’s great that your landlord hasn’t raised the rent in a while. You must be a great tenant! 🙂
Congrats on your first full month of self-employment. It sounds like it’s going well for you. 🙂

Thanks Kayla! I hope everything’s going well with your online income at the min? 🙂
Hayley, you sound like a nice landlord, I’m pleased you care about your property. In the last two flats I have lived in there have been damp problems. In the flat I have recently moved out of I reported the damp and it took the landlord over 6 weeks to send a damp specialist to review the problem. The landlord then had a cheek to try and blame us – we luckily got our deposit back in the end though.
Could you perhaps paint the flat yourselves? That is what my current landlord has done. Admittedly his painting skills aren’t amazing but it is fine – it looks much fresher.
Congrats on the income!
Thanks Victoria! Sorry to hear about the troubles you had with your previous landlord! I thought about whether we could paint the house ourselves but as the tenants are living in the property and we live around 100 miles away it’s a bit tricky. If the property was vacant, we’d definitely do that because I could just stay over there for a few days / nights and do it myself. But it’s a case of fitting in around the tenants too which is an issue. Never mind, all will get sorted!
Congrats on the new work, Hayley! That’s awesome that you’re taking it full time. I can’t wait to see what the future has for you with your writing. 🙂

Congrats Hayley! I hope you could share the website you are working on. I also love reading handmade crafts. It seems you’re having a great start! I hope for a fruitful year for both of us.

Sorry to hear about the house issues 🙁 What’s tough is maybe you’d wait to repair some things as the homeowners if you were living in the property, but when you have renters you have to fix stuff right away which can add up. Strange they didn’t tell you about those things until they had a big list. I’d much rather know one at a time.

Thanks KK – I know, we could have done without such a huge list of jobs all at the same time!
