I have a bonus post for you today which is great fun – hope you’ll join in! The fabulous Girl Meets Debt started this I ? Autumn tag earlier this week on her blog to celebrate the start of Autumn.
Here’s how this tag works. Below are some questions about what Autumn means to you. If you’re a blogger who wants to join in the Autumn fun, then you just need to publish the questions and answers on your own blog linking back to my post here.
If you’re not a blogger, then don’t worry as you can still join in by answering in the comments section at the bottom of this post!
So here are the questions and my answers!
1. What signifies the start of Autumn for you?
Harvest Festival is an traditional British annual celebration held at the start of Autumn (end of September usually or sometimes early October), once our crops have been harvested. We celebrate the food grown on our land through our schools and churches. My little girl has been involved in some Harvest Festival activities at her nursery recently!
2. What is your favourite Fall scent?
I like the scent of sweet apples, especially when used in candles or when I’m baking an apple and blackberry crumble in the oven! Scrummy!
3. What is you favourite Autumn colour?
My favourite colour is aubergine, this carries right through the seasons for me but I think it fits particularly well with the theme of Autumn!
4. What is your favourite Fall drink? Since I’ve converted to drinking herbal teas over alcohol recently, I’ve been indulging in Pomegranate Tea. It’s delicious, honest!
5. What TV show, new or old are you looking forward to this Fall?
I don’t watch a lot of TV these days as I’m trying not to veg out on the sofa every night (just at my desk with my laptop ;)). But I must admit I do love Strictly Come Dancing, The X Factor and Downton Abbey!
6. What is your favorite Fall fashion trend?
I’m not particularly on trend these days, but my wardrobe contains mostly aubergine / caramel / coffee colours, so hopefully these will be ok. I do have a really nice tweed military style coat which I’m definitely going to be getting out of the closet soon.
7. What is your favourite frugal Autumn activity?
Walking my dog is one of my favourite activities outdoors in any season but I love hunting for pine cones, different coloured leaves and conkers in the Autumn with my daughter – great fun!
8. Are you a bigger fan of Thanksgiving or Halloween?
In the UK, we tend to celebrate Harvest Festival rather than Thanksgiving, so for this question, I’d have to say Halloween. I’m really looking forward to making some DIY Halloween costumes this year and have already been looking at some great frugal ideas over at Money Crashers!

Cool idea! My wife really like pomegranate tea, too. My favorite part about autumn is that it means summer has ended here in Phoenix. It’s the best time of the year.

Thanks Mr DB40! I have read somewhere that Pheonix is really hot! Sounds great though compared to the weather in the UK at the moment! It’s bitterly cold already!
I had to google to find out what color aubergine is. Apparently it’s an eggplant purple! 🙂 I’ve never heard of the Harvest Festival before but thanks for telling us a bit about it! Thanks for doing the #tag too Hayley! 🙂

Lol! I should have said ‘plum’! Aubergine is indeed eggplant purple. You can probably tell it’s my favourite colour just looking at this blog. 🙂 Thanks for starting such a great #tag GMD!
I also had to Google Aubergine, that was interesting to learn! Harvest Festival sounds really nice. We had food drives and donations for Thanksgiving, but they were mostly canned goods, not celebrating local harvests!

Thanks E.M. Harvest Festival is really interesting and it’s great that kids can celebrate it at an early age. Your food drives sound interesting for Thanksgiving, I imagine canned goods are appreciated!
What fine replies to those questions, Haley! I love good craft beer anytime, but it tastes extra special with the crisp, clean autumn air. Yes, a pint in the open autumn air is in order as soon as Houston can get below 85 degrees again! Have a jolly one!
Thanks CJ! Whoa – Houston sounds rather warm! Hope it cools down a little for you soon! Have a great weekend too. 🙂
Really enjoying reading everyone’s posts. Mine goes live tomorrow morning. Everybody else googled Aubergine, I googled conkers 😉 This year our dog is going to be a shark for Halloween. We don’t have kids yet so the poor dog gets dressed up.

Lol! You’ll have to post a picture of your dog at Halloween! There’s nothing like a good game of conkers to keep kids amused, I loved it growing up. That’s when you drill a hole through the conker, thread a shoelace through and tie a knot one side to stop the conker falling off. Then you smash your opponent’s conker on a shoelace with your conker. Ah, the entertainment factor is just great. Looking forward to reading your I ♥ Autumn post!
Thanks to Money Bulldog, I learned about conkers earlier today! (I’ve always called them buckeyes). Aubergine was another new one, though. I love reading about everyone’s different answers with this tag, especially from those that live in such different places from me! Thanks for sharing!
